Six for Saturday or Sunday - Australia Day Celebration DIYs

Happy (almost) Australia Day to our Aussie readers!  To help you get ready for next week's celebrations, here are some fun Australia Day inspired DIY ideas. Clockwise from upper left:
You can also check out our past Australian themed DIYs and perhaps borrow a few ideas from some of our other national holiday posts, too. Still looking?  For crafts, working in the colour palette of your flag (or other national palettes, like Aussie green and gold) can help inject some patriotism into a whole range of "ordinary" craft and decorating ideas.  Similarly, for edibles, colourful fruits, a little food colouring, dyed coconut, premade sprinkles, or coloured candy can make things look a little more festive in the colours of your celebration.  Adapt your favourite recipe or try something new, like our easy chocolate truffle recipe made-over in red white and blue. :)

Looking for more creative ideas? You can try the past Six for Saturday (or Sunday) posts, searching the blog under the DIY type or label of your preference, or I also have a whole board full of of tutorials and DIY on Pinterest along with stack of other creative pins.  If you decide to make something fabulous or post something special this weekend, you are welcome to share here in the comments or post something over at Creativity Unmasked on Facebook. We are all about sharing so, on our page, a little bit of self shout-out is actively encouraged.

PS: The dogs at Dalmatian DIY have a little something special for your patriotic pups as well. Check out their no-sew DIY Australian Flag dog bow tie instructions
